I have been working with individuals, couples and families as a licensed mental health counselor since 1975.  In my more than 30 years in this field I have seen talk therapy successfully heal many people. 

In a safe environment like the therapist’s office, the connection between an experienced, trained therapist and an individual can lead to insight that can change a person’s life.  It’s not that the therapist “tells” the individual what to do, but rather gives them the opportunity to come to their own decisions with the help of some professional guidance.
